I just started here on Tuesday. I don't have a ton of experience with Ark but I played quite a bit of single player for a while.
I'm really liking the server so far. I've already seen more different creatures here than I did in my whole time playing single player.
I play mostly from around 5pm-1am CST. I'm not really into the PvP stuff...building/taming is what brings me joy in this game. I'll see how it goes this weekend...
